The Clinical Imaging Specialist is responsible for the following:
Performs the more complex imaging examinations while providing a safe environment for patients.
Reviews and evaluates requisitions for Diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patients' specific needs.
Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.Follows Departmental QC/Data Integrity Workflow.
Practices High Reliability Training.
Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
Serves as super-user for diagnostic equipment and operational applications.
Serves as a technical resource for equipment and IT issues.
Assists in the decision-making process when purchasing Radiologic equipment.
Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Modality Manager, Chief Technologist or Assistant Chief Technologist i.e., such as ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, lead inventory, etc.
Assists with management of RadSTAR QI reports.
Helps with new departmental /hospital initiatives.
Promotes positive morale, teamwork, and willingness to make a significant contribution.
Acts as QC Technologist and fills in as Assistant Chief Technologist as necessary by monitoring and maintaining daily operations of clinical area. i.e. monitors work volume and patient flow, organizing and prioritizing workload to meet established schedules and patient care requirements and resolves issues with ordering providers and personnel when necessary.
Trains fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques and image quality.
Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff.
Identifies opportunity for technologist training and education.
Participates in departmental educational projects/initiatives.
Acts as an educational mentor for technologist clinical staff through positive coaching and feedback.
Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Complies with ETU.Complies with HIPAA regulations.

Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
