Schedule: Full-Time Regular
Shift: Rotating shifts w/ occasional weekends
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Under general supervision of a pharmacist, the Certified Pharmacy Technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with department policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care. The Certified Pharmacy Technician performs more responsible pharmacy technician duties. RESPONSIBILITIESRequesting and accepting new prescription authorization, assisting in the handling of Schedule II Controlled Substances as well as initiates inventory counts or pulls. Prepares and pre-packages unit dose medication, following established protocols and guidelines. Will stamp orders, perform medication order entry, and make sure medication orders are verified by a pharmacist in a timely fashion to ensure that medications are obtainable by the nurse in the automated dispensing machine. Triage the central area, answer the telephone in a polite manner, and received in- medication deliveries. Responsible for picking, delivering, and refilling medication for the automated dispensing machine. A Certified Pharmacy Technician may not administer controlled substances; perform drug utilization review; conduct clinical conflict resolution; contact prescribers concerning prescription drug order clarification or therapy modification; provide patient counseling; or perform dispensing process validation. REQUIREMENTS Required to be registered by the Board of Pharmacy Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be of good moral character. Must not been convicted of a drug related felony or admitted to sufficient facts to warrant such finding. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, or currently enrolled in a program that awards such degree or certificate. CEU credits must be current for the past 2 years. Must have a minimum of 1-2 years retail or hospital experience. Must be nationally certified with PCTB and be in good standings.
