This position will split its time supporting our Orthopedics – Sports Medicine department as well as a new partnership with Wellesley high school. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with providers while at BCH and working with athletes while at Wellesley. Schedule will be approximately M-F 12:30pm – 8:30pm.
This Athletic Trainer I will be responsible for:
Following protocols of medical staff in planning, implementing, and designing treatment programs within an outpatient practice setting as a physical therapy aide or as an athletic trainer for athletic injuries
Performing diagnostic evaluations
Utilizing assessment skills to determine appropriate referrals
Collecting and maintaining statistical data and providing basic analysis
Coordinating schedules and coverage for orthopedic residents
Scheduling, receiving and/or registering patients, visitors and staff for appointments or procedures. Collecting, verifying and recording required information, obtaining records, files and/or results for appointments/admissions and entering related information on hospital and departmental computer systems. Collecting and organizing medical records, information, materials and supplies required for scheduled appointments
Providing positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations
Supporting the physicians within their capabilities including evaluation, intervention, taping, and home exercise programs
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelors of Science degree in Education, Allied Health, or Applied Sciences
1-2 years of experience as an Athletic Trainer
The analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs
Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well‑developed writing skills
The ability to work independently
