Lilly Associate Scientist - Oligonucleotide Chemistry in Boston, Massachusetts

We are seeking a highly motivated associate scientist to join our Genetic Medicine team. The successful candidate will have a strong research track record in chemistry and be analytically minded, systematic, and embrace data-driven decision making. The scientist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across key Lilly therapeutic areas (e.g. neuroscience, diabetes, immunology) to perform experiments to aid development of RNA oligonucleotide drug candidates for the next generation of RNA therapies.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Synthesize therapeutic oligonucleotides (ASO, siRNA, and others) at different synthetic scales using automated solid-phase synthesizers.

  • Routinely purify oligonucleotides using FPLC/HPLC and analyze purity by LC-MS.

  • Independently problem-solve in the laboratory setting to overcome synthetic challenges and improve upon existing workflows

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and manage laboratory inventory/consumables.

  • Visualize, summarize, and present results to team members,

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive high-speed innovation,

  • Embrace diversity of thought, background and experience to deliver innovative solutions,

  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills regarding accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in compliance with company standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors and/or Masters in Chemistry or related scientific field with experience in solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience with Akta Oligosynt or Oligopilot (scale up syntheses) is strongly preferred

  • The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of RNA therapeutics.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and team-player mindset

  • Support the implementation of new technologies and workflows.

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and ability to create ideas for future work plans

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$69,000 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
