You will work in an ACS CoC accredited community oncology program, with tertiary ties (Beth Israel Lahey Health). You will work closely with our 4 physicians, NP, and infusion nurses collaboratively to provide the best patient care possible. You will be a part of our multidisciplinary tumor boards, cancer committee meetings, along with other departmental responsibilities. Days Monday - Friday 8-hour shifts
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Coordinates care for patients preparing to start treatment including but not limited to: pre-treatment labs, imaging, referrals, venous access placement, treatment plans.
• Act as point of contact between inpatient and outpatient oncology patients to facilitate timely discharge, appropriate outpatient follow-up, pre-treatment education, and act as liaison for oncologists and hospitalists/in-house providers.
• Works in collaboration with authorization and billing team, Resource nurse and pharmacy as the clinical representative to ensure prior authorization and delivery of chemotherapy agents.
• Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
• Completes objective and accurate documentation of patient care in the electronic health record
• Collaborate in organizing community oncology events with oncology team and leadership to support our commitment of bringing cancer care awareness and programs to those most in need.
Education/Experience Required:
• 2-3 years of recent oncology nursing experience.
• Graduate - approved School of Nursing
• BSN Preferred, OCN required
