About the Job
Under the direction of the Pathology Department, microscopically reviews and documents slide interpretation results for both GYN and NON-GYN material. Evaluates the cell sample for presence or absence of normal/abnormal cellular patterns including benign reactive and inflammatory changes, atypical cells of undetermined significance, dysplasia and neoplasia, glandular dysplasia and neoplasia as well as microorganisms and other pathologic entities; cellular response to theraputic agents and endocrinopathies are also considered. Responsible for sign out of Negative GYN cases and referral of all Atypical GYN cases and all NON-GYN cases for pathology review and final sign out. Performs applicable LIS. Complies with all Cytology Manual Policies and Procedures and CAP/CLIA Guidelines.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
24 hours per week, day shfit.

Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/ university with 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) of biological science and 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours) of chemistry AND successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.
Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/ university with 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) of biological science and 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours) of chemistry AND five years full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience including cytopreparatory techniques, microscopic analyes and evalution of the body systems within the last ten years.
Prior to September 1, 1992 qualified as a cytotechnologist under previous regualtions and now qualify by means of the old "grandfather clause" (see CLIA '88 final standards rule).
