Under the direction of the Director, Manager and/or Supervisor of Patient Access Services, performs the functions of receiving all incoming calls and scheduling in a timely and accurate manner. Assures appointment documentation is obtained. Maintains proper sequencing in clinical order and patient routing between campuses and departments. Provides proper patient preparation for each patient at the time a procedure is scheduled. Informs physician office and/or patient that a requisition is required for test to be performed. Asks physician office to fax requisition into service area, and once requisition is received, scan to Iatrics.

Assists patients who may call to verify the time/date and other information about their procedure. Notifies physician office's and ancillary service areas of updated appointment information such as patient rescheduling, patient no-show and similar information. Informs physician office and/or patient of having to sign an Advanced Beneficiary Notice or Non-Covered Service Waiver form when test does not meet insurance company guidelines. Notifies physician office when prior authorization is required and documents the authorization information in scheduling.

Pre-registers patients for scheduled appointments, verifies insurance eligibility for all insurances a patient may have by either contacting the health insurance company by telephone or utilizing a website in order to verify eligibility and benefits. Verifies patient demographic information by telephoning the patient. Documents co-payments when applicable. Performs telephone registrations for ancillary areas. Observes all health and safety requirements. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advance education preferred.

  2. 1-2 years experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in scheduling or registration.

  3. Typing speed 65 WPM, CRT experience, medical terminology.

  4. Excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills required.
