About the Job

Position Summary:

Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospitals Nursing Mission is to build on a legacy of Nursing excellence by caring with compassion, advancing the art & science of nursing, and advocating for the health of patients, families, and communities. The Associate Chief Nurse assumes responsibility for the planning, priority setting, coordination and evaluation of programs of overall clinical operations, nursing care, education and research for the designated clinical department. Participates with other administrators in policy development, long range planning, and priority setting for the institution, as well as the Nursing Services.

  • Provides professional leadership

  • Supports guidelines for the delivery of nursing care, treatment and services

  • Develops an organizational plan for workforce development and nursing retention & recruitment

  • Leads the development of nursing staff

  • Assure the ongoing improvement in clinical quality and patient safety by the implementation of National Patient Safety Standards.

  • Manages resources and participates in the annual budgeting process within the Nursing Department

  • Ensures continuous compliance with all regulatory bodies

  • Participates with the CNO and Associated Chiefs in decision-making, long-term planning, goal setting, resources distribution and evaluation of the Professional Practice Model, and the Nursing Shared Governance Structure

  • Establishes key relationships with members of the external professional nursing community to facilitate student learning and to identify mutual opportunities for career development, continuing education, scholarship and research.

Progressive, successful experience as a Nurse Executive with demonstrated expertise in program development and evaluation, and the ability to establish partnerships in program management, community partnerships, and workforce development. Knowledge of state of the art technology and systems to promote a learning environment. Experience in program and curriculum development based on the principles of adult learning theory desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master degree required. Doctoral degree in Nursing Practice preferred.

  2. Massachusetts RN License required

  3. Board Certification preferred.
