The successful candidate will work together with our research technicians and veterinary care staff to ensure animals are cared for in accordance with regulatory guidelines and with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles. The hands-on experience we offer in the lab has great possibilities for growth with exposure to all aspects of studies. Highly motivated individuals will have an advancement track through the department. This position is an integral component of our business development and growth. The successful candidate will be selected based on aptitude, experience, and a dynamic personality to join our In-Vivo team.

Daily technical tasks include:

  • Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.

  • Report all animal care concerns and become involved in resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.

  • Ability to learn regulatory requirements (including those concerning USDA and AAALAC).

  • Clean and maintain various types of equipment (including but not limited to):

  • Feeders, water bottles, animal caging, toys etc.

  • Perform cage wash duties as needed.

  • Clean and sanitize animal rooms / pens, hallways, stairways, and non-animal rooms.

  • Help prepare for / receive new animals (including but not limited to):

  • Housing set up, provide feed and water, document appropriate animal arrival information, report any health concerns.

  • Dispense feed for use in animal rooms.

  • Handling/restraint of various species

  • Perform health assessments of animals, ability to learn medical terminology

  • Will maintain well documented laboratory records.

  • Ability to work across groups with more than one species.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or Associate’s in science related field

  • Prior experience working in a cleaning role or working with animals is preferred but not required.

  • ALAT certification or greater is a plus, but not a requirement

  • Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Good written and verbal communication skills required

  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred

Pay Range: $20-21/hour
