Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director, Center for Counseling and Psychological Health (CCPH), the Lead Psychiatrist provides leadership in psychiatric services at CCPH as well as direct services to a wide variety of patients.

Essential Functions

  • Provides general psychiatric responsibilities and interventions such as medication evaluation and follow-up and evaluations for hospitalizations on and off campus.

  • Supervises advanced practice psychiatric clinical nurse specialists.

  • Evaluates medical withdrawals and readmission to campus.

  • Evaluates and treats clients having complex medical issues and differential diagnosis, including consultations with other UHS physicians and staff.

  • Provides on-call coverage for stints of 24 – 120 hours including holidays and weekends.

  • Supervises CCPH Prescribing staff.

  • Performs general range of clinical responsibilities such as evaluations, crisis interventions, and brief psychotherapies of individuals, couples and families.

  • Supervises interns and all others related to specialized psychiatric knowledge.

  • Member of Administrative/Leadership team of CCPH . Provides ongoing consultation to the Director around clinic operations.

  • Provides community consultations and workshops.

  • Prepares timely documentation of all activities as required.

  • Understands and contributes to implementation of departmental and institutional goals for achieving non-discrimination and creating multicultural environment.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • M . D . Degree and 3 years residency training in psychiatry, including skills specifically relevant to this setting.       

  • Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry (certification required within 3 years of hiring).

  • Medical license in Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Registration with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA.)

  • On-call responsibility is required after hours’ time.

    Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

  • Schedule is flexible and may fluctuate based on business needs.

    Salary Information

    Salary is commensurate with skill and experience.
