Description:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s primary role in the Behavioral Health Department is to provide psychiatric medication consultation, assessment, and psychiatric medication management in an integrated setting within the medical practices. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct care to referred patients ages 2.5 to greater than 100 years and may be required to demonstrate age specific competency, depending upon clinical assignment, in a variety of clinical settings throughout the health center. The clinician is responsible for providing quality patient care under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisor, Administrative and Medical Directors, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Bilingual preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establishes rapport and develops therapeutic relationships with patients of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of motivation for change.

  • Provides assessment and treatment for a range of conditions to individuals and families, acquiring additional training and supervision as indicated.

  • Works as an embedded clinician in the primary care practices at EBNHC, providing consultation and short-term stabilization and treatment for psychiatric illness within a primary care setting and as a long-term specialty clinician at SECHC.

  • Utilizes a combination of tele-health and in-person visits.

  • Serves as an integral member of the primary care teams.

  • Performs new assessments, ongoing treatment, crisis intervention/emergency and collateral care.

  • Renders accurate diagnoses utilizing the DSM 5.

  • Performs all the required steps to ensure the generation of clean claims – checking on coverage, completing documentation, submitting encounters on time, and completing re-authorizations.

  • Uses clinical supervision to address psycho-pharmacological assessment and management questions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited Graduate Nursing program.

  • Current Massachusetts license or license eligibility.

  • Prescriptive privileges in Massachusetts.

  • Bilingual preferred.
