Patient Services Manager

Manages all activities and resources pertaining to an operations service team cost center that provides clinical care to patients. Maintains operations processes, and practices that ensure compliance with federal and state law and regulations. Manages all operations functions directly and indirectly related to billing for service to patients. Manages staff to ensure functional operations.

Ensures adequate staff coverage, assigns work activities, ensures orientation and training, provides guidance and disciplinary counseling, monitors the work product, qualitatively and quantitatively, facilitates good Labor/Management relations, and demonstrates effective communication skills with the staff. Responsible for budget development and operating within that budget, adherence of the team to staff ratios productivity goals, visits per episodes and other established indicators to achieve budget goals. Works closely

with Oasis and Clinical Documentation Integrity department to continually

improve accuracy and timeliness of documentation for billing and manages the

team to produce a work product that is billable in a timely manner. Educates

the clinical and support staff of the impact of their work practices on

reimbursement from third party payers. Manages cost effective utilization of agency resources.Develops, maintains, and shares knowledge base of all pertinent regulations related to the work product of the team. Adherence to all regulations is ensured and commitment to the VNAB Compliance Program is demonstrated.Integrates the concepts of

Continuous Quality Improvement into all daily practices. Identifying problems,

measuring them, working with those involve to develop solutions, implementing

solutions, and then monitoring and measuring the results, along with looking

for processes as causes for poor performance first and then at the individual

employee. Uses advanced interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others to foster clinical growth of the clinicians both in hands on care and in documentation.Uses advanced interpersonal

skills to work collaboratively with all other agency managers to facilitate the

agency ability to bill, to adhere to regulatory controls, and to provide

quality care to the patients.Exemplifies effective

communication skills, including: communicates with staff in direct and

effective manner, role models and facilitates interdisciplinary communication,

addresses conflict at its source, seeks and accepts feedback and constructive

criticism from staff, colleagues, patients and referral sources. Communicates findings, issues and problems

regarding compliance, documentation and clinical practice to the District

Director.Demonstrates the ability to negotiate integrity – preserving compromise, recognize and respect perspectives of others, respect other’ time and the constraints o it, and demonstrate professional self-confidence. Practices and promotes excellent

customer service and assures staff

compliance with VNAB customer service standards.Performs other duties as assigned

and complies with all policies and procedures of the Agency and other


Educational/Professional Requirements: BSN or equivalent experience required, Masters Degree with health care concentration preferred, clinical license and at least 5 years of progressive clinical experience, including community health and 2-3 years of management experience. Demonstrates leadership ability, collaborative attitude and skill. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills along with good computer skills. Ability to multi-task and delegate tasks. Excellent Customer Service skills.
