You will be responsible for:

  • The provision of nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with current BH Standards of Care.

  • Administering and monitoring patient response to therapeutic interventions.

  • Demonstrating knowledge and application of the nursing process as it relates to patients and families.

  • Collaborating with health team members, patients/families in the provision of care.

  • Delegating and providing direct supervision to other health team members as appropriate in the implementation of the patient care plan.

  • Acting as an advocate for patients/families/significant others.

  • Practicing within accepted ethical and legal parameters of nursing.

What will you need?

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Current Health Care Provider CPR certification required.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years acute care RN experience

  • Education: BSN preferred

Orientation is structured to the needs of the novice to competent practitioner. The usual time period is six (6) weeks in duration for PCU and longer for HVCC. Periodic meetings are held with the orientee, clinical educator, preceptor and nurse manager to review progress and address areas of continued need. Orientation consists of classroom, on line learning, simulation and supervised experiences.

The HVCC is a thirty bed unit (18 critical care and 12 intermediate care beds) located on the third floor of the Heart & Vascular Care Center, a specialized unit with private rooms, advanced technology and accommodations for continued family visitation for the critically ill cardiac, cardiac surgery and vascular patients. The HVCC cares for patients who have experienced major cardiac events such as acute heart failure or myocardial infarction, cardiac (open heart) surgery and extensive vascular surgical procedures that require frequent monitoring and interventions.

Quality Award participation in the reduction of ISAT cartridges and decrease in Linen Utilization.

Active participation in Quality Initiatives to reduce Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) and Central Line Blood Stream Infection (CL-BSI) as well as others.
