Our team members have received multiple grants and leadership awards. An Acute Care for Elders project won the health system’s quality award last year and the division is leading a multiyear $2.5 million HRSA grant to develop the workforce and design programs incorporating geriatrics and palliative care into primary care, the hospital and our hospice program further increasing support for the mission of the division.
The interdisciplinary Palliative Care Program manages a busy inpatient consult service, working with all departments in the hospital to support best patient care and a system level approach to incorporating palliative care principles across sites of care. Our faculty members teach annually at national meetings (such as the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the Center to Advance Palliative Care and the American Geriatrics Society) as well as leading education in pain and symptom management and communication skills in multiple venues in the health system.
