About Baystate General Pediatrics, a service of Baystate Children’s Hospital, offers a wide variety of primary care services to pediatric and adolescent patients up to adult age. General Pediatrics is a level III NCQA certified Patient Centered Medical Home practice. We serve close to 10,000 pediatric patients with over 20,000 visits per year in the Springfield, MA area. General Pediatrics is dedicated to providing the very best care for children offering on site evaluations for both physical and mental health needs. The health center is the academic training site for Baystate residents. General Pediatrics is staffed with over 40 providers, including Advanced Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other health care professionals. Each patient is assigned to a care team comprised of a primary care provider, nurses, medical assistants and other support staff. We are active participants in the Reach out and Read literacy promotion program, and we provide integrated on-site Behavioral Health services with our partners at Behavioral Health Network.. The clinic provides patients with treatment and education of chronic conditions such as Asthma, ADHD, Obesity, and many other complex care needs. Specialized clinics include the Lead Clinic, Weight Management and Complex Care Clinic which offer individualized care to patients.

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Acting as the nursing expert for the site

  • Adhering to Joint Commission, Baystate Health and NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home standards and functioning as a lead in meeting requirements

  • Managing the clinical practice environment from a "Patient First" perspective

  • Partnering with physician leadership to develop and implement clinical policies and procedures applicable to pediatrics

  • Utilizing available resources within budgetary constraints and handling a broad range of day-to-day operational activities, including supervision of clinical staff, leading quality and service improvement efforts, serving on departmental and interdepartmental committees and keeping practice management apprised of the practice's clinical issues and concerns.

  • Identifying and implementing educational and developmental opportunities for staff, convening nursing meetings/huddles, overseeing clinical staffing and schedules, and providing guidance to management on nursing issues and concerns.

  • Serving as a member of the site leadership team and attending weekly operational leadership meetings

Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Clinical Supervisor will demonstrate leadership skills which foster a collaborative, team-based environment. Coordinates all issues related to personnel management and staff development including hiring, training, performance management and evaluations for clinical staff including MAs, LPNs and RNs.

What You Will Need:

  • Massachusetts RN licensure, BSN preferred

  • CPR required

  • 5 years clinical nursing experience required

  • Supervisory or team lead nursing experience required

  • Preferred experience would be in community health center or large ambulatory practice

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate and work efficiently with leadership, providersand a multidisciplinary team

  • Good analytical skills, ability to work with data, metrics and Microsoft Office.
