Job Summary

Mabbett is seeking a nine to twelve-month project-related hire, who will serve on-site as part of a team of EHS professionals and support a major site redevelopment program in Southeastern Massachusetts. Experience should include: ​ knowledge of OSHA regulations; conducting field industrial hygiene and environmental sampling; and lead/asbestos inspections and abatement monitoring. Although this a temporary, project-specific assignment, strong performance and demonstrated ability may allow this opportunity to evolve into a permanent position with the firm.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a science related field.

  • Minimum of five years of experience.

  • Industrial hygiene monitoring (regulated building materials air and bulk sampling, etc.).

  • Experience with indoor air quality studies.

  • Certification as an Asbestos Project Monitor (Massachusetts) required.

  • NIOSH-582 Course or equivalent.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • US Citizen and ability to obtain a security clearance, if required. ​


  • Conduct occupational exposure or area monitoring, environmental sampling, and other related duties. ​

  • Perform all required fieldwork, such as calibrating and operating equipment for acquiring air samples and monitoring personnel exposure, making mathematical calculations, obtaining media, submitting samples for laboratory analysis, collecting relevant data, observing field situations and documenting events. ​

  • Perform on-site microscopy point count for asbestos and successfully participate in IPAT rounds.

  • Oversee asbestos abatement and abatement contractor’s compliance.

  • Perform work place surveys to determine compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations. ​

  • Assist in training on a variety of environmental, health and safety issues. ​

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, work in the field, work outdoors, and lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to wear a respirator.

  • Off-hour work may be required.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • After normal business hours may be required.

Base Location

This position is based at the project site in Southeastern, MA, but will report to the Bedford, MA headquarters.
