VCA Antech, Inc. Veterinary Technician - 3rd Shift in Northboro, Massachusetts

VCA Northboro Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced, P/T or F/T 3rd Shift Veterinary Technician (Monday – Thursdays, no weekends) to join our well-established, AAHA-accredited, 9-doctor practice in Northboro, Massachusetts.

This Technician is needed to care for in-hospital patients and provide basic husbandry and upkeep of the treatment area during the hours that the hospital is closed. No appointments/client or emergencies are seen during this shift. This is an excellent positon for a semi-retiree, student, or someone that wants to work in veterinary medicine but wants a slower pace. Veterinary technician experience preferred, but we are willing to train an exceptional candidate with a strong animal care background.

Responsibilities:

Medical duties include care of medical boarders and stable hospitalized patients such as:

  • Medication administration via IV, SQ, Oral, aural and opthlamic routes.

  • Feeding.

  • Walking.

  • Monitoring of behavior and general care.

Treatment Area duties include:

  • Restocking supplies.

  • Cleaning and Sterilizing surgery packs.

  • Upkeep of laundry and dishes.

  • Other basic cleaning duties.

Skills & Qualifications:

The successful candidate will share our passion for high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care and have the experience and technical know-how to make them happen. CVT’s and LVT’s preferred, but not required. Skill sets will include the following:

  • Excellent client communication skills (in person, in writing and/or by phone),

  • Venipuncture

  • Catheter placement

  • Radiology

  • Anesthesia monitoring

  • Physical examinations and patient assessment

  • Surgical preparation and assisting

  • Dentistry

  • Laboratory work

  • Pharmacy

  • Patient recovery

  • Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients.

  • The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste.
