Job Description

Title: Maintenance Assistant / Utility Person (Full Time/ 40 Hours Per Week)8:00pm - 4:30pm

Located in lively downtown New Bedford with scenic views of the ocean, Brandon Woods New Bedford is a skilled nursing facility offering long-term, short-term and subacute care, as well as rehab and our own Adult Day Health Center. We also have services dedicated to Alzheimer's care and the needs specific to this diagnosis. We offer daily programming that encourages our residents and Day Center participants to remain active, social and independent to whatever degree achievable.

Job Summary:

  • Collect and remove all rubbish from the building and the grounds daily.

  • Make minor repairs, replace light bulbs and report any major repairs or problems on a daily basis to the supervisor

  • Wash all windows on outside of building on a rotating basis by instruction of supervisor

  • Perform landscape work, such as mowing the lawn, weeding, planting, and removal of snow, according to instruction of the Plant Supervisor.

  • Be responsible for the use, return, and care of tools used which have been supplied by the company. This also includes reporting of any malfunctioning tools or equipment to the Plant Supervisor.

  • Assist the Plant Supervisor with any projects or repairs which require assistance.

  • Document work that is performed and maintain a line of communication with Plant Supervisor concerning needs and problems associated with responsibilities.

  • During business hours, is on call for emergencies in the building.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Ability to speak, read and write English. Ability to follow oral and written directions in English.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: No experience is necessary but is desirable. On-the-job training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Turns, crouches, kneels, stoops, bends below waist, and reaches above head frequently; climbs stairs frequently. Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls carts and equipment at a minimum of fifty (50) pounds frequently. Uses sight and auditory senses to assess and observe housekeeping aspects.
