Our radiologists are members of the medical staff of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston.Job Location: Needham, MAReq ID: 20981BRJob Summary: Under the general direction of the Manager of Radiology, reporting to the Physician Liaison/Support Staff Supervisor performs a wide variety of specific and specialized duties, using independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. This position functions as the Lead Radiology Scheduler and requires knowledge of procedures and policies related to the Radiology Department, excellent organizational and communication skills. Provides leadership to the other schedulers. Ensures excellent response times for customers. Organizes staff assignments and workflow. Develops matrices and compiles statistical data as it relates to appointment scheduling and performance improvement. This position requires the ability to multitask and ability to work collaboratively with technical and scheduling staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
While functioning in the scheduler role, this individual must be able to work in a fast paced environment, demonstrate ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands and seek managerial assistance as needed. Performs all duties with respect to receiving patients as they arrive in Radiology and prepares all appropriate paperwork for their imaging procedure. Schedules all types of imaging procedures and has knowledge of PACS.
Provides coordination of scheduler assignments and department coverage.
Actively provides ongoing training of schedulers in collaboration with the Radiology leadership.
Develops and maintains workflow processes that ensure timely appointments, either directly with the patient, or with the referring office staff.
Works with Radiology leadership to develop and maintain scheduling guidelines as determined by radiologist protocol & clinical indications.
Acts as a point of contact for referring office staff regarding communication of scheduling requirements.
High School diploma or GED required .
1-3 years related work experience required.
Minimum of one year experience with Radiology services and exam scheduling required
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Written Communications:Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
Oral Communications:Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge:Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
Team Work:Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
