Description/Job Summary

Outside the Lines Studio, an arts-based day program for adults with disabilities, seeks a highly motivated and creative individual to join our support team as an on-call or full-time Direct Support Professional.

The mission of Outside the Lines is to provide individuals with developmental disabilities the tools and materials to create art and the supports to define themselves as artists. Outside the Lines works with artists with a range of disabilities, in particular people whose challenging behaviors or health issues make them poor fits with more traditional day services. Many of the artists' works are included in private collections throughout New England. Artists have been successful in local and national juried exhibitions.

*Job Duties/Responsibilities:

The Direct Support Professional would be responsible for providing artistic, community, recreational, and vocational activities for adults with developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injury. Additional responsibilities may include: assistance with personal care, transportation, studio and gallery upkeep, clinical documentation, or 1:1 direct support to designated individuals. Other responsibilities could be determined based on the employee s skills and career goals.

*Job Requirements /Minimum Qualifications:

Valid driver s license and proof of safe driving history

High School Diploma

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualities:

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities

  • Ability to work therapeutically with individuals who have the potential for aggressive behavior

  • Experience with clinical support of individuals with disabilities

  • Ability to contribute effectively as a self-directed member of a cohesive team

  • Commitment to the values, culture, and future of OTL

  • Demonstrated implementation of artistic, community, and recreational activities and support plans that encourage the personal development of individuals.

  • Ability to empathically engage with a wide variety of clientele while maintaining professional boundaries

  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
