We are currently seeking a dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our team at Cape Cod Hospital. PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Clinical/Outreach Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis. The individual in this position performs a wide variety of duties requiring specific knowledge of the clinic's policies and procedures. She/he is expected to meet the clinic's professional, clinical, technical, communication and documentation requirements and standards and to make decisions based on established guidelines. The Clinical/Outreach Athletic Trainer will evaluate, treat and assess, and adolescents/students for athletic injuries. She/he recognizes age specific differences and variations in methods used in student/patient assessment, care and support required for different age groups. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in helping to restore function and in preventing disability. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: § Develops and cultivates contacts with referring physicians, businesses, schools, coaches and other referral sources. § Courteous to students, parents, guardians, patients, family members, faculty, staff and visitors. § Practices with a customer service approach to all activities. § Utilizes appropriate, sound and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively evaluate, treat and assess athletic/musculoskeletal injuries. § Provides athletic training services to student athletes as required. § Provides patient, student and community education in the areas of sports injury prevention and care. § Provides input as to the fitness and conditioning status of athletes/patients. § Completes all training and clinical documentation in a timely manner. § Coordinates pre- and post-participation exams and acquires protective equipment for athletes as needed. § Provides athletic training services at sponsored sporting events. § Works with clinic staff to develop and implement the outreach program. § Assists physical therapists in the treatment of patients with sports and orthopedic conditions referred for rehabilitation. Physical therapist will evaluate/reevaluate the patient, set goals and monitor progress. The Athletic Trainer will implement and carryout the treatment plan. § Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment programs, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards, and confidentiality. § Enhances professional growth and development through approved participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops. Participates in appropriate inservice education programs. § Performs other duties as assigned or requested. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: High school degree plus basic technical training, usually one year or more. BOC certification and current state licensure. Less than 6 months experience. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Recent and/or current experience providing athletic training services at the high school level.
