The Securos Surgical Instrument Repair Lab Supervisor is the lead technician responsible for the daily servicing of surgical instruments including: repair, inspection, cleaning, polishing, burring, and sterilization. The Supervisor will direct creation and maintenance of procedural methods, assist with hiring, training, coordinating workflow, as well as selecting equipment and tools required to support the Repair Lab activities. He/she will oversee color dotting (or similar) activities and be held accountable for safety standards for personnel under his/her supervision.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with industrial machinery to service and repair surgical instruments for veterinary use Repair services consist of, but are not limited to: sharpening, alignment, refinishing and refurbishing of all surgical instruments Use polishing equipment to achieve a high quality instrument repair as defined by customer work orders or other written documentation Oversee and facilitate instrument identification processes (such as color dotting and engraving) Manage the completion of product work summaries Maintains inventory of parts and supplies in the repair center and submits order requests for new products and/or vendors Manages engineer repair processes (via workflow and method analysis), defines methods and establishes SOP’s Identify tool and equipment purchases necessary to support the SOP’s and improved efficiencies (cellular and inline processes). When necessary, aid in the preparation of Capital Request for such equipment Assist Management with Instrument Repair Technician job postings, interviewing, and evaluations Manages instrument repair personnel Train and direct Instrument Repair Technicians to conform with SOP’s and SECUROS safety procedures necessary to meet work flow, turn around, quality, and compliance standards Monitor work quality to meet established criteria from SOP’s or other defined parameters Works closely with the Wet Lab supervisor to ensure quality instrumentation for teaching Manage the Repair Lab to set daily output targets Communicates effectively with customers; listens to customers’ needs and takes immediate action to meet such needs Knowledge of all instrument repair equipment such as, Bench Grinder, Mill, Press, Etch Maker, Utility Sharpener, Belt Sanders, Polishers, Autoclave and Ultrasonic cleaners with skills to service instruments as needed Follow established work procedures and standard practices. Aid in revising and implementation of work procedures and standard practices as necessary. Maintain clean work areas and follow guidelines of organization and equipment preventative care by implementing 5s (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) Identify and track required equipment service. Schedule equipment service and repair as needed Works directly with Manager to identify opportunities to improve efficiency Participates in ongoing continuing education and training seminars as related to the job description for both himself/herself and managed personnel Performs additional duties and assignments as needed Qualifications: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalent is necessary. Minimum five years instrument repair experience, polishing and burring experience, mechanical aptitude and experience using instrument repair equipment such as Utility Sharpeners, Belt Sanders and Bench Grinders is preferred.


Excellent customer service, interpersonal, presentation, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent team work are necessary. Ability to multi-task, follow written and verbal instructions, work independently with limited supervision. Advanced working knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word are required.
