We are currently seeking a dedicated Health Unit Coordinator to join our team at Falmouth Hospital. SUMMARY Provides secretarial and clerical assistance in support of the day to day activities of the Surgical Services Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Must be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees of the organization. Schedules multiple services, rooms and procedures. Liaison for MD offices. Updates schedules for all surgical services areas. Confirms appointments. Produces and distributes necessary paperwork. Schedules and confirms pre-admission testing appointment's Registers patients for nutritional counseling. Greets patients upon arrival. Verifies patient information upon admission. Acts as contract person for patient's family. Monitors telephones. Enters physician orders and patient charges into hospital information system. Assembles initial charts. Charts results. Orders supplies and specialty equipment. Takes and documents verbal and telephone orders form physicians. Performs copy and fax service for Surgical Services areas. Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must type 30 words per minute. Completed medical terminology course or equivalent experience required. One-year experience in medical field required. Must read, write and speak and understands the English Language.
