Department Description: HOURS: 10 hours/week (2 days with variable shifts and possible weekend need)

Beth Israel Deaconess Health Care Chelsea is opening a NEW Urgent Care Service staffed by BIDMC Emergency Medicine Physicians. This new SERVICE to the community will access all of the existing services currently available on site such as Radiology including diagnostic X-ray, ultrasound and mammography. The health care center currently offers Primary Care, OB/GYN, Medical & Surgical Specialties, Physical Therapy and other testing services including Bone Density, Pulmonary Function and Holter Monitoring. The Urgent Care Center’s hours of operation are Monday-Friday (Noon) 12pm - 8:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 9:00am - 5:00pm. All patients, ages (2) and above are welcomed to the NEW Urgent Care Service.Job Location: Chelsea, MAReq ID: 20580BRJob Summary: Provides leadership in the provision of nursing services in an office-based setting, supports the implementation and evaluation of quality nursing care to patients and families, under the direction of the nurse manager and/or director.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the allocation of resources; acts as a clinical resource for staff; supports the nursing division by participating in performance reviews, initiating and contributing to quality improvement initiatives and standard development.

  • Assess patient and their family issues, level of acuity, staff and physician concerns and take appropriate action. Update nursing staff, delegate duties and ensures follow through to address patient issues.

  • Provides clinical consultation to nursing staff or directs them to other resources.

  • Communicates and interprets changes in nursing practice activities and standards of care.

  • Identifies self learning needs and updates clinical knowledge and skills through formal and informal education and review of current literature.

  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 4-6 Indirect Reports: None

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

  • License Nursing License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.

  • 5-8 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required.

  • Demonstrated leadership through progressively responsible nursing assignments. Demonstrated competency in pediatric and adult nursing.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS) Certification strongly preferred and required within the first three months of employment.

  • 3-5+ years supervisory/management experience.

  • Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise. IV infusion experience.
