NURSE PRACTITIONER

Job Description:

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – Outpatient Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Auburn Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is seeking a full time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a strong interest in geriatric psychiatry to join the Outpatient Psychiatry Service. The Nurse Practitioner in the department of psychiatry will work under the supervision of a psychiatrist, to provide outpatient evaluation and medication management services to patients needing psychiatric care.

Clinical Practice:

  • Provide diagnostic evaluations and medication management for a broad range of psychiatric disorders in adult patients.

  • Complete outpatient psychiatric consultation for primary care providers.

  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss treatment planning and case review.

  • Assist in the academic activities of the Department of Psychiatry.

Education:

Master’s degree in nursing required. Completion of an accredited education program for nurse practitioners, with specialization in psychiatric mental health.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required:

-Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with authorization by the Board of Registration in nursing to practice in an expanded role.

-Registered with the ANCC or other accrediting organization for Nurse Practitioners with certification in Psychiatric Mental Health.

-Registered with the State of Massachusetts and DEA for prescription writing privileges.
