Sanofi Group Medical Information Specialist in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Research, create and provide scientifically accurate and balanced responses to unsolicited medical inquiries from health care professionals (HCPs) and patients about Genzyme products and related diseases, and investigational drugs. Serve as a disease and product information resource to Medical Information (MI) and other Genzyme departments. Provide training to internal or external personnel. May function as a product expert for Genzyme Medical Information departments worldwide.

Job Responsibilities:

Research, evaluate and assimilate proprietary data, published medical literature and additional resources for inclusion into local standard letters (LSLs) and frequently asked question scripts (FAQs) Perform, or oversee, literature searches and data extraction in support of the development and writing of referenced standard letters.

Draft new and update LSLs and FAQs, with supervision, that describe on- and off-label information regarding Genzyme’s marketed products and investigational products and related diseases for use by global or local MI staff and outsourced partners(s). Review new or substantially altered LSLs and FAQs.

Evaluate the medical literature and determine key articles to be summarized for internal education in MI.

Responsible for the creation and distribution of global and local routine and ad hoc product activity reports.

Provide with oversight medically sound responses to complex inquiries forwarded from other in-house sources or outsourced partners.

Handle global topic response packages related to the specific assigned product and timely dissemination of new and updated product and disease information to Medical Information globally.

Work within the Medical Information Database. Enter calls and responses, provide review of responses for QA, track question/issue trends and serve as an information resource to internal customers. Conduct quarterly reviews of MI call-handling database cases.

Review materials being evaluated by the Medical Materials Review Committee (MMRC) and provide medical expertise with a consideration for scientific balance and medical accuracy. Furnish MI sign-off on approved materials as needed.

Participate on marketed and emerging product cross-functional project teams as the prime contact on projects. Interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Participate on global team meetings and disseminate updated product and project information across MI globally.

Develop and refine appropriate search strategies in conjunction with for periodic alert searches to identify relevant references for addition to product specific MI literature database(s). Review periodic alert searches, and select appropriate articles for inclusion. Oversee the continuous updating of the MI literature database for the relevant product(s).

Create, update and provide product/disease state/database/MI department training materials for new hires within Global MI, Sales/Marketing or other Genzyme departments.

Serve on local and Global Medical Information project teams. Participates in determining objectives of significant projects or assignments.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

PharmD or Bachelor's degree in health sciences (e.g., Pharmacy, RN, or equivalent background) plus 2 to 3 years' experience in Medical Information or at least 3 years experience in a clinical setting. Strong literature searching skills. Experience with literature evaluation and medical writing.
