Massachusetts Institute of Technology Clinic Assistant I - Urgent Care in Cambridge, Massachusetts
CLINIC ASSISTANT I-URGENT CARE, MIT Medical (part-time, 24 hrs/wk.), to perform a variety of functions--with minimal supervision--within the urgent care service. Duties will include scheduling appointments for patients, both in person and via the telephone; checking patients in for urgent care; working independently to answer all incoming telephone calls, referring to triage, urgent care, or other clinicians as needed; and opening and closing the Urgent Care area, depending on shift worked. Will also request patient copayments, document transactions in Flowcast, complete closing batch activity and run POS settlement at the end of each shift, and place batch form and co-pay receipts in collection box. May be required to copy reports and related paperwork; page on-call clinicians as instructed by clinician on duty; and arrange for transport of patients and specimens via campus police, ambulance, or taxi service to area hospitals or laboratories.
REQUIRED: a high school diploma, a minimum of two years’ direct/related medical experience, working knowledge of medical terminology, experience with and good judgment when triaging telephone calls for medical necessity and urgency, exemplary customer/patient service skills, good computer skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The schedule for the position is 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Saturday and Sunday, plus one weekday.
Will be required to work one to five holidays per year, less if coverage is available.
