  • Provide technical assistance and support for ALS team and equipment. Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet established schedules and patient care requirements.

  • Create tutorial and training videos reviews of software and technologies developed by our program and in use by programs nationally.

  • Upload and manage the Jay S. Fishman ALS Program YouTube channel. Coordinates website playlists and updates with the BCH Marketing team.

  • Provide in-clinic and on-line support to patients as determined by clinician. Guides patients through the voice bank process; establishes accounts. Guides patients through the recording process. Edits and prepares audio files for the BCH model of message banking/voice banking following established protocols. Submits patient’s voice to vendor, receives finished product from vendor and follows-up with patient for feedback and completion. Reports results to clinician to determine next step of assessment process.

  • Provide field support, delivering technology and configuring equipment as directed by the clinician in patients’ homes.

  • Provide training to graduate Speech and Language Pathology interns including the tools and technologies used in clinical practice for patients that require augmentative technologies.

  • Maintain and update ALS program technology including ensuring software is update-to-date. Create feature comparisons of clinical tools for clinicians and patients.

  • Coordinate equipment updates, repair and replacement. Complete software installations and customizations based upon patient needs communicated by clinician. Create repair orders with manufacturers, ships equipment for repair, tracking repairs and alerts clinicians of availability of repaired/replacement equipment for use. Maintain equipment database, tracks progress of repair. Provide patients with loaner equipment and tracks equipment in database.

  • Collaborate with industry leaders on feature needs of emerging communication technologies. May assist with the development of new communication methodologies/technologies.

  • Establish and maintain knowledge of current and developing tools, practices and techniques through in-service attendance, professional meetings and continuing education programs. Keep abreast of state of the art options for technology integration with environmental options and emerging technologies.

  • Provides assistance to program director for assigned clinic, innovation and administrative related duties.

    To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Assistive Technology, Rehabilitative Therapy, Computer Science, BioMed, or related field.

  • Previous experience troubleshooting hardware is preferred.

  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing providing empathy in difficult interpersonal situations. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients and families.

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation.

  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.

  • Familiarity/skill in use of both Windows and Mac operating systems.
