This Research Lab Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing day-to-day operations of a research laboratory. Developing, implementing and maintaining the lab's standard operating procedures in compliance with hospital and govermental regulations. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with government regulations regarding safety and the use and disposal of radioactive materials, chemicals and other hazardous materials.

  • Managing and overseeing the requisitioning of research animals and maintenance of related records and documentation. Updating and renewing active research protocols. Preparing and filing new protocols in conformance with hospital, and regulatory agencies requirements.

  • Preparing, monitoring and administering laboratory's operating budget and maintaining related financial records. In conjunction with faculty and Facilities Assistant, preparing annual laboratory expense budget. Monitoring and maintaining expenses within established budget allocations, requesting and justifying exceptions as warranted.

  • Managing and overseeing preparation, submission and maintenance of laboratory's research grants. Developing individual grant expense budgets and monitors, maintaining and reconciling expenses within established allocations. Assisting in preparing grant applications and monitoring applications to ensure receipt of required approvals and submission to funding agencies within established timeframes.

  • Screening and interviewing applicants and making hiring recommendations to Principal Investigators. Preparing and expediting payroll, performance evaluations and employee change forms. Maintaining laboratory's personnel files and records.

  • Serving as a liaison between principle investigator and lab staff.

  • Staying abreast of regulations and implementing changes in the lab to adhere to new Hospital and federal mandates.

To qualify, you must have:

  • The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience OR Master of Science AND 6 yrs of relevant experience.

  • The analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in‑depth, experience‑based knowledge.

  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing including assigning and distributing work, enforcing policies, conduct performance reviews, and counsel employees with performance and/or disciplinary issues. Work requires ability to write detailed reports and proposals.
