This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:

  • Under immediate supervision, performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experiemental, specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research.

  • Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.

  • Providing technical support to multiple research projects and becoming familiar with techniques such as PCR, molecular cloning, immunohistochemistry, and tissue culture.

  • Purchasing and equipment maintenance.

  • Animal colony management and husbandry.

  • Maintenance of laboratory stocks.

  • Establishment of procedures and maintenance of records.

  • Documentation to ensure the laboratory's compliance with hospital and governmental regulations.

To qualify, you must have:

  • The analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.

  • Outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field.

  • Specific experience with laboratory animals, molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or tissue culture, a plus.

This is a great transition opportunity for a recent college graduate interested in pursuing further graduate or medical education after 2 years. Previous Camargo lab assistants have been co-authors on several papers and are now in highly competitive medical and graduate school programs.
