The Home Health Coding Specialist (Part Time) is responsible for accessing and coding client records via EPIC and EPIC Remote Client by utilizing ICD-10 classification and OASIS assessment systems.
Maintains a working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and Home Health coding principles, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third party requirements regarding documentation and billing. Must be experienced in OASIS coding and auditing.
Assures that all services documented in the patient’s chart are coded with appropriate ICD-10 codes. When services/diagnoses are not documented appropriately, seeks to attain proper clinician documentation in a timely manner according to regulatory standards and Client policy.
Ability to maintain average productivity standards as follows: Home Health coding and Review at 2/hr.
Works assignments on a daily basis to ensure all charts are coded and reviewed. Emails should be sent to the Clinicians daily per client policy with recommended documentation changes. Must understand the OASIS assessment and requirements for most recent OASIS update (2017 – OASIS C-2).
Provides accurate answers to the Clinician and/or Client’s coding or billing questions within eight hours of request.
The coder/auditor is responsible for coding or pending every chart placed in their queue or assignment sheet as applicable within 24 hours. Worksheets must be returned daily to manager or per Client policy.
Coders must maintain their current professional credentials while working for Navigant Cymetrix.
Previous experience with Home Health Coding.
Must have a minimum of 3 years of Home Health coding or auditing experience.
Must hold one of the following credentials:
BSN is required.
OASIS or Home Health Credentials for coding.
Must have one of more the following: CCS, CPC COS-C, HSC-D
SHP for Home Health Agencies experience recommended..
Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work
Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
Generally works in an office environment
