State of Massachusetts Quality Control Coordinator in Boston, Massachusetts

The Program Coordinator II will function as the Quality Control Coordinator for the Massachusetts Cancer Registry, organizing and supervising quality control with one direct supporting staff member.

Job duties include:

  • Review of data quality control and accuracy.

  • Coding of hospital data with MCR operations and research staffs.

  • Liaise with Center for Environmental Health MCR data use and quality control date and case review for accuracy and completeness.

  • Training MCR operations staff and reporting facility staffs.

  • Serving as lead resource regarding American College of surgeons (ACoS) coding.

  • Development, maintenance and dissemination of "Tips Lists" of standardized data issues.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

  • Current and valid certification as a tumor registrar.

  • Knowledge of Human Resource Management including behavioral techniques, planning, forecasting and organization development.

  • Experience in preparing charts, graphs and tables and report writing.

  • Ability to analyze and determine applicability of data, draw conclusions and make recommendations.

  • Ability to extract and compile information from examining records and questioning individuals.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and ability to interpret and explain them.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Supervision and training experience.

  • Knowledge of the principles, procedures and terminology of malignant disease staging and tumor classification by primary site and histology.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.*

II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.*

III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
