The Physician Assistant will be responsible for:
Working primarily with the pediatric emergency medicine attending physicians and fellows, as well as with pediatric and emergency medicine resident physicians.
Clinical reasoning, which includes clinical decision-making, critical thinking.
Evaluating practice and creating changes through research utilization and experiential learning.
Respecting the patient and family leading to compassionate and empathetic care.
Facilitating colleague, patient and family learning.
Working to promote and encourage optimal and realistic patient goals.
Systems Thinking: Body of knowledge that allows the physician assistant to manage and improve system resources.
To qualify, you must have:
A Master’s from a Physician Assistant program.
The ability to work in collaboration with emergency medicine physicians, nurses, mid level providers and administrative staff.
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
Excellent communication skills.
A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant.
Under the direction of physicians, provides comprehensive healthcare services to patients with all types of conditions in the Emergency Department. Performs pre-op care including diagnosing patient condition and prescribing care including surgery, elicits histories, performs examinations, performs and interprets diagnostic studies, performs therapeutic procedures, instructs and counsels patients regarding physical and mental health issues, and responds to life-threatening situations. Develops care plans and prepares patients and families for patient discharge.
