  • The Tufts Medical Center is an academic medical center with a high volume and high complexity CAP accredited laboratory performing a wide array of testing and transfusion services for patients throughout their lifespan. The laboratory performs 98% of all tests ordered on site with a volume of over 3 million tests per year. Under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and the Central Receiving Supervisor the Phlebotomist/Lab Tech collects specimens including blood and urine for laboratory testing following all policies and procedures of Tufts Medical Center Laboratory. This position also includes duties in the main laboratory related to specimen receipt and processing including: add on testing, labeling, transport, troubleshooting and multiple functions using the LIS, SoftLab. Candidates applying for this position should possess effective communication skills, the ability to provide compassionate care to patients, and be able to work under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands requiring accuracy at all times. Neat and orderly work habits as well as excellent attendance and punctuality are required. Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent is required Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program or Medical Assistant program with a concentration in Phlebotomy Nationally Certified in Phlebotomy or certification ready At least 1 year of clinical experience is preferred Ability to work with a diverse population of patients in both the outpatient and inpatient setting-Bilingual speakers are encouraged to apply Phlebotomy competence with all age populations/newborn to geriatric Excellent Customer Service skills with strong interpersonal skills Attentive to detail Knowledge of Laboratory Information System (SoftLab) helpful
