This position is for an Occupational Therapist with experience in Hand Therapy. The qualified candidate must have proficient splinting skills and preferably be a Certified Hand Therapist This position provides comprehensive patient evaluation, sets realistic short and long term goals, plans and implements innovative programs to promote maximum patient functional independence and arranges adequate post-discharge follow-up. Works as a team member in close cooperation with health professionals, patients, and families, promoting and implementing the Medical Center's policy of continuous improvement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Must participate in program development and assist with problem-solving issues related to the department as a whole, as well as specialized areas. Responsible for reviewing and updating clinical protocols on a regular basis. Provides comprehensive evaluation and assessment of patients in the outpatient setting. Sets appropriate realistic short and long term goals and plans of care related to patient's occupational therapy needs. REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrates the ability to carry out the appropriate treatment plan. Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the needs of patients of all different age populations in order to provide care appropriately. Must be willing and able to work effectively with a variety of patients including pre-and post- operative hand therapy patients. Must be able and willing to teach one-on-one or a group basis. Must have completed professional occupational therapy training through completion of an accredited program leading to, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree. Must have a current Massachusetts license in occupational therapy.
