State of Massachusetts Nursing Assistant I in Boston, Massachusetts
The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH) is looking for a motivated Certified Nursing Assistant.
Hours to be worked: 11:15 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
Days Off: Every other weekend
LSH takes pride in helping people recover from illnesses and conditions that are often underserved or difficult to manage in other health care settings. The Hospital serves populations that are mostly indigent, often in the care and custody of state agencies, and present with clinical issues that arise from mental illness, homelessness, and substance abuse. LSH provides 260 inpatient beds and 25 specialty medical clinics, including surgical services, to patients and clients referred by private sector providers and state agencies (including the Department of Mental Health (DMH), the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDS), and the Department of Corrections (DOC)). We strive continuously to improve the quality of life for our patients through the delivery of collaborative treatment and a patient-focused continuum of care. Teaching health professionals from various disciplines always has been a part of the hospital’s charge as well.
The Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and provides unskilled nursing care.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Maintains a safe and hygienic environment as part of the patient care plan and according to Infection Control policies/procedures.
Documents technical nursing procedures according to Nursing department policies/procedures and under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Observes and reports changes in patients' conditions/patient care needs to RN in charge.
Checks vital signs (TPR, BP, O2 sat) as part of nursing care plan and as delegated. Enters vital signs into Meditech.
Assists patients in activities of daily living according to individualized patient needs.
