The Tufts Medical Center Sickle Cell Nurse Practitioner (NP) works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health care team to provide direct patient care services for patients in collaboration with the supervision physician. The NP performs triage, physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care of patients, and provides direct patient care services for patients with sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies. The NP will also cross-cover the Tufts Medical Center Infusion Center for acute infusion issues and benign hematology patient diagnoses, however, the primary responsibilities will be with the Tufts Medical Center Sickle Cell patient population. The NP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization.
Oncology experience required
Chemo certification required
Possesses and applies the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Ability to provide primary care for a caseload of patients according to practice guidelines and hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
Please note: Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. Schedule may be modified by the clinical or leadership team.
