Bay Cove Human Services Nurse Manager in Boston, Massachusetts
Order and maintain supplies of all controlled drugs and other medical supplies. Conduct monthly nursing meetings. Conduct annual performance evaluations for all nurses. Collaborate with BayCove Human Resource Dept. in the advertising and hiring for open positions as well as in giving corrective actions to and termination of staff. Complete all nursing schedules. If staffing requires, will be responsible to perform duties of the admissions nurse, or staff nurse on any shift. Participate in daily rounds/report and discharge planning. Maintain a collaborative relationship with the medical director and psychiatric consultant. On call responsibilities as shared in a fair manner by all unit management staff. Participate in the unit orientation of all new staff. Participate in the training and education of all unit staff regarding changes and updates of medical aspects of substance abuse, detoxification, and mental illness as they might effect the patient. Oversee the nurses' responsibilities in utilization review and work collaboratively with the billing coordinator and the insurance reviewers in utilization review procedures. Understand and follow DEA and all state and federal regulations regarding the use of controlled drugs in the detox program. Be available for DEA representatives during site visits or other contacts regarding licensing and regulations. Assist in the development and maintenance of a budget for pharmaceutical and medical supplies for the unit. Massachusetts license as Registered Nurse. Five years acute care experience. Two years supervisory experience. Prior substance abuse experience required. Understanding of homelessness and dual diagnosis issues required. Prior experience with homeless population preferred.
