Job Description

Position Summary:

Under supervision, responsible for managing and prioritizing the electronic scanning and indexing of various medical documents. Responsible for validating accuracy of indexed documents and presentation of documents in EHR. Remain flexible regarding daily duties to support shifting HIM department priorities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Prioritizes, prepares batches of health information documents for scanning into the electronic health record, removing staples, clips and ensuring the pages are easily separated.

  2. Scans assigned health information documents into the EHR after accurately verifying patient information.

  3. Performs data entry, keying patient, form and date of service information into the EHR.

  4. Monitors the scan process for mis-feeds, addressing problems in a timely manner and minimizing interruptions in productivity.

  5. Indexes electronic health records, while validating all patient information and patient form type, and assuring that all scanned documents are presented correctly in the electronic health record. Identifies scanning errors and routes for correction

  6. Verifies the quality and accuracy of the scans in the EHR and communicates any variances appropriately.

  7. Calibrates and troubleshoots the scanner for proper image quality, and monitors daily usage of equipment. Performs routine maintenance of scanning equipment according to departmental procedures and vendor specifications.

  8. Forwards paper copies of medical information with batch header for filing and quality control purposes.

  10. Performs document maintenance and quality assurance projects as assigned.

  11. Works collaboratively and shares information proactively with peers and with colleagues working the next shift to maintain efficient workflow.

  12. Learn, adapt and apply skills to new technology and processes as they are implemented.

  13. Maintains strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality policy.

  14. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.

  15. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.

  16. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

  17. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

  20. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

  21. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

  22. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Ability to effectively organize and prioritize administrative duties. Ability to access and process electronic information utilizing computer technology. Ability to work independently.

Experience: Minimum 6 months of computer experience. Shift DAYS
