Position Summary:

The Chief Medical Officer will serve as the Physician Leader of Northeast Hospital Corporation (Beverly & Addison Gilbert Hospitals). He/she will continue the transformation of the System Subsidiaries from independent subsidiaries to an integrated health system part of Lahey Health System. He/she will serve as the physician leader in the integration of care between Northeast Hospital Corporation, Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Winchester Hospital and other health systems that become part of the Lahey Health System. The CMO will be responsible for setting the quality agendas at Northeast Hospital Corporation, ensuring that they align with the quality goals of the Lahey Health System. Additionally at Northeast Hospital Corporation oversight will be provided for the departments listed above.

Responsibilities

Setting the quality agenda Northeast Hospital Corporation.

Work with the Lahey Health System CIO and CMIO on the continued optimization of the EHR

Ensure regulatory compliance of Northeast Hospital Corporation (TJC, Leapfrog, DPH, CMS, DMH, etc)

Collaborate with the physicians, quality departments and Administration to maximize P4P (Pay for Performance) and other Population Health Initiatives

Assist in preparing the agenda for the Northeast Hospital Corporation Quality Care Committee

Present Quality and Patient Safety reports to the NHC on a routine basis and at LHS Boards when requested

Work with the physician leaders and staff at Northeast Hospital Corporation to ensure that they are meeting their quality goals

Collaborate with the Risk Management Department to identify areas of potential risk and patient safety and put in place action plans to mitigate those risks

Work continually improve the patient/family experience at Northeast Hospital Corporation

Collaborate with the COO and CNO to prioritize quality initiatives

Oversee the execution and review of contracts between physicians/physician groups and Northeast Hospital Corporation

Work with Administration on strategic planning as it relates to clinical matters

Enhance physician alignment through collaborative relationships across and between subsidiaries (MSO services, ease of scheduling patient appointments across campuses, etc)

Serve as the spokesperson on quality issues as LHS discusses affiliation with other health systems

Work with the Lahey Health System counterparts to facilitate credentialing of qualified physicians throughout LHS

Collaborate with the Lahey Health System counterparts to conduct an analysis of quality and patient safety resources within the Lahey Health System and where appropriate consolidate resources without adversely affecting quality or patient safety

Provide input to Senior Management on proposed new programs to ensure that they are of the highest quality and that they bring added value to the organization

Act as the administrative liaison with NHC senior management and the Medical staff

Oversee the appointment, reappointment and credentialing of physicians

Initiate and Manage the contracts of all physicians receiving stipends to ensure the performance of their activity and appropriateness of their compensation

Oversight of the appointment, reappointment and credentialing of physicians; working with the Medical Staff President and the Medical Staff;

Qualifications

Board Certified/Board Eligible Physician (MD or DO)

Able to continue to practice medicine 4-8 hours/week

Member of the Medical Staff in good standing

Proven leadership ability/experience (Officer of the Medical Staff, Chair of various committees, leader of a successful private practice, experience in a similar role at another organization)

Minimum of 5 years as a practicing physician is preferable

Advanced training (CPE, MBA, MPH, MMM) or equivalent experience is preferable Scheduled Hours 32 to 40 hours per week.
