Seven Hills Foundation Senior Direct Support Professional in Barre, Massachusetts

Cares for groups of students under supervision of Group Home Director.

Ensures that all essential youth needs are met in the Group Home each shift, according to guidelines.

Instructs youth regarding desirable behavioral, health, hygiene, and personal habits as they apply to Stetson policy and procedure.

Demonstrates, through actions, support for the program’s ACORN approach to treatment, and the attendant focus on awareness of the impact of trauma, developing social competencies, healthy attachment, self regulation, and the student rehabilitation process.

Distributes medication in accordance with MAP procedures and guidelines.

Facilitates scheduled youth visits, and treats family and visitors with dignity and respect.

Ensures telephone and mail contact between family or other identified supportive adults in accordance with the individual service plan and program rules and standards.

Demonstrates care giver qualities that treat all youth with dignity and respect.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree preferred in field related to human services; or 6 months experience working in the field of human services with a minimum of Certificate of Achievement froma public high school, documentation of home schooling equivalent to a high school diploma, GED, or High School Diploma. Specialized training or specific skills; student intern experience or volunteer work may be credited toward experience.

Demonstrates tolerance for discussion of sexual abuse with appropriate terminology. Understands healthy sexual development. Maintains professional boundaries in relation to sexual attitudes and values. Models firm guidance without being abusive or aggressive. Acknowledges the seriousness of sexual offending and its impact on victims and society. Ability to work as a supportive and cooperative team member. Ability to remain awake and alert while on duty.

LANGUAGE:

Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, team members, other employees of the organization, parents/guardians, and outside agency personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Able to extract the main ideas from instructions and carry them out in appropriate sequence. Able to analyze the components of problem situations, to understand cause and effect, and to develop plans for solutions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Requires a current valid driver’s license from state of residence.
